Get Involved! Volunteer!

Volunteering with The Oakville Strokers is a great opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life, be
part of a t
eam, share your experience, learn new skills, have fun and develop lasting friendships.  We
greatly value and rely on our volunteers who together make The Oakville Strokers a success.

All volunteers are required to complete this Volunteer Application Form  and to provide references and
a Police Record Check.

Stroke survivors over 21 years of age who…

        Have obtained a physician’s consent
        Are capable of independent transfer, or require minimal assistance
        Are continent and independent with respect to their other personal functions
        Have the ability to provide own transportation
 
  All stroke survivors will be required to complete a Pre-Admission Questionnaire and a Participant Application and Physician Consent Form.  We frequently operate at full capacity.  Participation in the program is limited
by space and other factors.

        A low-impact stretching exercise session
        A pool session with assistance from volunteers
        Bring your own lunch and social interaction
        Card games, arts and crafts and other leisure activities
        Occasional community outings and special event activities
   
  The pool and exercise sessions are directed toward maintenance of mobility and enjoyment. They do not include strenuous activity. There are three, ten week sessions: Winter, Spring and Fall. Fridays from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm. There is a nominal fee for each 10 week session.
